Though irritating, seat belts help reduce the impact during a crash or an accident. If during a crash a passenger is not wearing a seatbelt, the passenger keeps hurtling forward until they collide with some part of the car. Seat belts are designed in a way that they not only support you to be thrown out of the car but also absorb the impact that otherwise could be very fatal. Studies also suggest that, when used properly, seat belts reduce serious injuries by almost 50 per cent. It is also very important to wear the lap belt over the pelvic and not over the stomach. It is advised to wear the belt the way it is designed and supposed to be worn.
