Odisha's Bol Bum Yatra

Video Description

During the months of Shravan the Shiv bhakts or kanwariya, take water from River Ganga and walk up to 105 km barefoot. They drape themselves in saffron cloth and take their kanwars, walking sticks that are used to hang the water urn, to the Shiva temples to pour the pure Ganga water on the Shivlinga. While on the pilgrimage the pilgrims sing bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva and recite Bol Bum. Many devotees observe fast on Monday during this period.
