Hindustani Classical Flutist
Panchajanya Dey, a devoted performer and practitioner of Indian Classical Music, was inclined towards music from a very tender age.
Panchajanya is the first flutist in Hindustani classical music to play two octaves of a flute simultaneously in a single blow. He loves to experiment with the form in such a way that the music blends with contemporary moods and is relatable to a younger generation.
Panchajanya Dey has learned the basics of the flute from Sri Sakti Pada Nag. Later, he was exposed to a wide variety of music through Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay. With immense dedication, Panchanjaya has acquired the profound knowledge and delicate essence of Hindustani classical music.
Apart from being an exponent of Hindustani classical music, Panchajanya is well versed in Western music and in the guitar, piano, and harmonica.
In addition to this, Panchajanya has been a part of several significant studio works ranging from basic albums, singles, films to daily soaps and has collaborated in several critically acclaimed short films and theatricals.
Panchajanya Dey understands the importance of learning the foundations of Hindustani classical music in its entirety before moving on to other popular genres. This approach ensures the student has the ability to create their own unique sound, as opposed to the practice of mimicking popular melodies.
