Learn the fundamentals of Bharatanatyam with Indian Classical Dance Performer and Teacher Dr Rekha Raju.
Learn the basic steps of Bharatanatyam and understand how to incorporate different dance moves to start your daily practice. Dr Raju will assist you with the mudras or hand gestures, eye movements, neck movements, head movements, and foot movements. You will learn the 8 Adavus and the Mudras.
After this basic Bharatnatyam course, you will be ready to move forward with the more advanced lessons in Bharatanatyam.
Dr Rekha Raju is an Indian classical dance performer and teacher. As a professional dancer, she has been practicing the art form of Mohiniattam and Bharatanatyam for over two decades.
She completed her PhD in Fine Arts from Heidelberg University, Germany, and her master's in Bharatanatyam.
After refining her skills in Bharatanatyam, Dr Rekha Raju has devoted most of her time to Mohiniattam, a popular dance form from Kerala.
Currently, she heads a dance establishment named Nrithya Dhama, where she prepares children from minority backgrounds. She is also associated with the Freedom Foundation, a volunteer organization that rehabilitates youngsters with HIV.
She has been listed in the Limca Book of Records and honored by the Bangalore Tamil Sangam as the Best Young Dancer to promote Indian Art. Dr Rekha has also been awarded the title 'Swarna Mukhi' by the Kalahalli Temple Trust.
She has performed on multiple stages across the country, gaining recognition and accolades for her innate artistry, authentic presentation, and graceful style.
