Street Jazz (also known as Jazz Funk) fuses the groovy and funky elements of street forms such as hip-hop, funk, and jazz. Focused on sassy and attitude-filled movements, it is often danced to the latest pop songs!
Street Jazz evolved from dance styles outside the studios - in dance parties, streets, schoolyards, raves, parks, and block parties. Highlights of this form include improvisation and socialization, and interaction with the crowd. Having evolved in the United States in the 1970s, Street Jazz is evolving to this day with hip-hop culture and can now include elements from popping, locking, and even breakdancing!
This workshop by Zoë Dominique Subbiah will feature a warm-up, basic grooves, choreography, and a cool down. Focused on versatility and individuality, Street Jazz will bring out the dancer in everyone!
Join Zoë this weekend to make your day fun and exciting with some Street Jazz - and dance your blues away!
Please ensure you wear sports shoes for the workshop.
