If you listen to music, you must have heard the term 'Kirana Gharana' - but chances are, you have no idea what it really means.
Kirana Gharana is one of the most prolific Khyal Gharanas, and is all about the perfect intonation of individual notes. These notes or Swara are the key components of Kirana Gharana - and Arati Thakur-Kundalkar, a torchbearer of Kirana Gharana, excels at this.
As an Indian Classical vocalist, Surmani Arati's online singing lessons will feature a deep understanding and knowledge of Swar, Lay, Raag, and Taal. Other than this, you will also learn:
With regular classes, you will understand and be able to sing all 12 natural notes as well as some basis ragas such as Durga, Bhoop, Srang, and so on.
If you've already received training in Hindustani Classical vocals, you can seek Arati's online singing classes for Semi-Classical forms such as Thumri, Dadra, and Marathi and Hindi Bhajans.
Additionally, if you wish to further your classical singing prowess, you will receive specific guidance on Kirana-style Khyal Gayaki. She often refers to music and singing as meditation and considers her regular morning riyaz as a meditative activity.
