Art Therapy is a great way to express emotions without speech, process feelings, and cope with the blues.

Allowing yourself to express yourself creatively has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and lessen symptoms of depression. Art Therapy is particularly helpful for children, as it allows the therapist to connect with the child without words. Additionally, it can help boost social skills, give you personal insight into a nagging problem, and provide a healthy outlet for intense emotions and thoughts. 

Art Therapy enhances brain function - it impacts brain wave patterns and the nervous system. It can increase serotonin levels in the body and make you feel happier. You do not need to be an artist to practice Art Therapy - any adult or child can participate and benefit from it.

Kaavya Chandy aims to bring Art Therapy online to connect with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. She believes that every problem has a solution and, with discernment and quietness, the solution can be found. 

This program would entail using art to channelize your emotions and thoughts, and better understand how you can deal with them. It will focus on a seven-factor approach to self-realization.

About Kaavya Chandy

Counseling Psychologist

Kaavya Chandy is a Counseling Psychologist with over five years of experience. 

She completed her bachelor's in Communications, Psychology, and English, and holds an MSc in Psychological Counseling. She followed up these qualifications with a Diploma in Pastoral Leadership and a certificate course in Autism Among Adults. 

Kaavya specializes in child and youth counseling, and has completed a certification course in Art Therapy. She has been utilizing this method during the lockdown to connect with children online. 

Currently, she is working as a Counselor with Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru. She is also a Registered Therapist with the Live, Love, Laugh Foundation, founded by Deepika Padukone.
