Alcohol Ink is a form of painting that gets its name from its medium, the colours that are based on alcohol. They are best used for creating free-flowing textures.
Working with alcohol inks is easy because you only need high-quality ink, a non-porous surface, and a blending solution.
The alcohol evaporates quickly, which means that the paint dries within a few minutes. Also, alcohol inks can be 'revived'. This means that when dried ink comes into contact with fresh ink or pure alcohol, it reacts and can be further painted on. Because of this, fresh artwork is possible from an older version.
They are best used on non-porous surfaces like glass, plastics, metals, and varnished wood. Porous materials like paper, untreated wood, cardboard, sponges and fabric should be avoided.
