Between the year 2020 and 2021, India's internet user-base grew by 47 million (+8.2%), touching nearly 45% of the population. That's nearly a million more than the population of Spain, the 6th largest European nation. At this rate of growth, it is expected that Indian internet population would cross a billion mark around 2025.
The growth of Indian internet population has created an unique opportunity to solve one of the biggest problems that the country has faced historically --- the lack of infrastructure for key services in education, wellness, healthcare, and other essential areas of learning that can transform lives. By enabling individuals to access learning resources and the right mentors, technology can help level the playing field and open up a world of opportunities for the aspiring individuals.
At Spark.Live, we operate with this vision and mission -- to empower individuals by providing them access to the right training and guidance, no matter their background, geographic location or language they speak. Our greatest ambition is to help these aspiring individuals discover their potential, and flourish in the world of opportunities that exist online and offline.
Historically, delivery of education has been purely through content and classrooms. Content has been in form of written word. Classrooms have been mostly offline, and nearly always targeted towards school or college students. Online education platforms have brought in video in addition to books.
However, post-K12 adult learning, upskilling and skill-development segment hasn't ever been an organized learning ecosystem. Yet, its the direction in which all efforts are focussed by Government of India, in order to increase the base of individuals with employable skills. It is high time that an ecosystem around adult learning is created.
Our approach at Spark.Live is to build lifelong learning communities, which includes Creator-Trainers and Learners, and building tight mentored-learning and peer-to-peer learning models around these communities. And by enabling these communities to interact and engage in a live class metaphor, we are giving them as close to a community classroom experience as possible online.
Redseer recently released a report on the size of this opportunity. Apart from the size of the opportunity, an interesting fact about this ecosystem is that the skills for which training or learning is in demand isn't necessarily set in stone; it morphs as the ground realities change. For instance, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected not only the learning models, but the kind of classes that are relevant for users in the post-pandemic world. Therefore, at Spark.Live, we enable a model equivalent to C2M model to navigate our way forward. Our classes and workshops keep morphing shape-shifting according to demand, and this how we create the biggest impact in the lives of the users coming online from the hinterlands of India.
Lifelong learning, upskilling and skill-development is becoming increasingly important for the ecosystem in general, and for an individual to adapt and stay ahead of the curve. At Spark.Live, We will keep honing our focus in this segment as our users continue to guide us in our journey. If you have the same passion as we do in this space, we urge you to reach out to us and connect.
